You may have noticed that entries lately have centered on music. More specifically, my involvement in various music sundries. I didn’t mean for that to happen - I thought I’d quit the business. I didn’t realize it at the same but in retrospect I felt that God took me out of the madhouse for a reason. Pretty good reasons, too, don’t you think?
So imagine my surprise when the last couple of years have become more and more music-involved. A symphony here, a symphony there (everywhere a symphonysymphony), a show here, a featured artist spot there. I used to think I was a pretty good trumpet player (actually, I thought much more highly of myself - maybe that’s why God took me out of it) but now I am more modest about it. To be perfectly honest I think I’m terrible now. Maybe not terrible, but not good. I am continually humbled now, which was point, I think.
And if all of that weren’t surprise enough, last night the officers of the Board of Directors for the Aurora Symphony submitted my name to the Board for President/Chairman of the Board. Dang. Where did that come from?
UPDATE: I must now be referred to only as El Presidente!, by decree of a coworker. I’m pretty sure you have to say it with the exclamation point, as well. Snapping your fingers over your head, Flamenco-style, will no doubt follow soon.
