This is a busy time of year for everyone, I know, but criminey! On my way to to something or other the other night, Mrs D pointed out that I hadn’t been home in the evening for 2 weeks. Could just be me, but when the missuz makes that observation its not generally a good thing.
So the Symphony concert was a huge success - packed houses both nights. Rave reviews from the local paper. In the 2 years I’ve played with this orchestra, this particular reviewer has never noticed the brass section. One of the trombone players has, umm, caught her fancy. Well, that’s something, right?
Today my brass quintet is back at the Town Center at Aurora (formerly known as Aurora Mall) from 5-7. Tomorrow is just ridiculous, though. 2 church services - its the last Sunday in Advent doncha know, a rehearsal for Christmas Eve, followed by another rehearsal for the Colorado Youth Symphony, followed by the CYSO concert. The brass quintet is offering extra support for the kids’ orchestra and being featured on several pieces. The Rutter Gloria is very brass heavy (originially written just for brass and choir) Good stuff - and we get a chance to play here - very cool.
Christmas Eve is nuts, too. If you’re near either of these chuches you’ll hear me. The catholic church will feature the brass quintet on the 3:30. 5:30 and 10:30 services. I’ll be at LOTH for the 5:00 service. Yes there is an overlap there. At least they’re in different cities….Yikes. See what I mean?
