I haven’t linked them in a while, partly because they bugged me something fierce a while back. But still. The latest Carnival of Homeschooling and the Carnival of Education are both up and good reads.
Charter Schools, Virtual Academies and Homeschooling are legitimate educational options. Would that lawmakers in Colorado recognize that before public schools start down this path (via Joanne Jacobs):
…a student can earn F’s in three quarters and a C in one quarter and still pass for the full year. Another way to pass: two D’s and two F’s, under a policy that educators locally and nationally said falls far below typical standards.
Granted, New Orleans has had a rough go of it in the last 2 years, but is this the best way to treat their children? Ah, at least their self esteem will be high, right?
