I’m 38 years old. My parents divorced when I was about 11 - not really uncommon anymore. I’ve been married for 12 and a half years and am completely committed to my wife and my family. Depending on what statistics you examine, that is unusual.
When my parents divorced, it was messy and angry. There was no real custody battle (that I remember, anyway) but the whole thing was pretty ugly. So now I get more news - my mother and stepfather are an inch away from divorcing. Wha? Not sure how to handle that. As a kid, that routine is pretty set - especially for a pre-teen. But how does a 38 year old handle their parents’ divorce? I don’t remember coming across that data before. Weird.
Who gets custody of me?

Rich, I’m sorry to hear that. Prayers for you and your (extended) family.
I’m pretty sure your wife got permanent custody when you were married. Seriously. If you become legally incompetent, she gets to make all your decisions.
I am heartbroken….Sandy is too! She needs our prayers, please.
