Quotes of the week

Eh, so much to catch up on. Now I can’t remember where I saw some of the really good stuff. I really wanted to link the country boobie song and now I can’t find it. Figures. Don’t google that, btw - you won’t find what you’re looking for. Or maybe you will.

Anyway, it’s been a while for this feature. Time to rev it up again. BRING ON THE BLOCKQUOTES!

James Taranto:

Meet John Kerry, junior senator from Massachusetts. Some say he looks French, others call him haughty. But everyone agrees on one thing: He served in Vietnam.

Frank J, channelling Anderson Cooper:

“And I should note that Joe Biden has decided not to give an opening statement to reduce the chance of him using a racial slur or some similar gaffe. Very wise of him.”

and

“We in the media have been criticized for asking stupid, insipid questions, so to prove that things can be worse we asked the public to submit questions on YouTube.”

Presidential candidate John Edwards, with absolutely no comment on my behalf:

“This is actually not hard, this is fun. The biggest problem is my butt hurts. Is that normal?”

Ace, who doesn’t have the same hesitation about John Edwards’ comment (thanks, Ace!):

No, it’s not normal, John. Tell Elizabeth to take her time easing it in rather than bull-rushing for your pyloric valve, huh?

Just to help you understand what you should focus on:

If you use the new global warming hurricane theory and not last year’s global warming hurricane theory you have conclusive evidence global warming is real.

A 3 parter, starting with SuperAnchorWoman Katie Couric:

“The housing market is going deeper in the dumper. America’s Realtors reported today that used homes were selling in June at the slowest pace in four and a half years.”

…the same day as the National Association of Realtors announced:

The national median existing-home price2 for all housing types was $230,100 in June, up 0.3 percent from June 2006 when the median was $229,300….There are pockets around the country where home sales are quite strong.

…so the natural followup to that is the CBS story stating:

We are experiencing home price depreciation almost like never before, with the exception of the Great Depression.

Hmm, thanks Nancy! Now where can I find that boobie song…
