We leave the teeth in ziplock baggies so the tooth fairy can find them easily. But really, what is this world coming to when the Tooth Fairy has to lecture your child about dental hygiene and nutrition? Next thing you know Santa will be scolding her to share all her toys with underprivileged children.

Great idea! If the Tooth Fairy was a subtle hint, Santa Claus could be the heavy reinforcement every parent needs.

We had a family friend write a similar note when the Big-Eyed Boy lost his first tooth. (I didn't want our son to recognize my writing.) We included $5 on the condition that he spend it on a toothbrush.

Rich,
Loved your charming Tooth Fairy story! I thought it was great to leave a note--can't remember ever getting one when I was little, but all I cared about was getting the quarter anyway (ha! ha!)

Brilliant!

When my son was 11, he tried to "trick" the tooth-fairy into giving him money for a wadded up piece of toilet paper under his pillow. I did make sure I went up to swipe the wipe before I went to bed. The tooth fairy left him a whole dollar... in Monopoly money!

Great blog. Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. I've also added you to mine!
