Okay, now I’ll pay attention

I didn’t want to know about the Presidential races to this point. Too much, too soon, thank you very much. With the Iowa Caucuses tonight, though, the races have officially started. So now I’ll pay attention to it. But only under duress.

On the Democratic side, B. Hussein Obama wins. John Edwards and Hillary Clinton wrap up 2 and 3. On the Republican side Mike Huckabee takes the lead, with Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. That 3rd place seems contended between Thompson and John McCain tonight, but I saw something logical (can’t remember where) that put 3rd to Thompson so I’ll run with that.

Unlike a lot of pundits, I don’t think the Hawkeye Cauceye means very much in the final roundup, except that some candidates feel the need to spend a ton of cash there. Obama has a very good chance of winning the Democratic nomination, but Huckabee has no chance at all, in my opinion. Next up is New Hampshire on Tuesday, which also means little in the final analysis to me. The South Carolina primary is the 26th, which may finally mean something.

UPDATE: I worked all day - no, really - so I didn’t get a chance to do my regular reading. Otherwise, I’d have pointed you to this outstanding Iowa Caucus FAQ. Must read.

Also, in my effort to get something - anything - written down before I get dropped from anyone else’s daily sweep, I forgot to mention something. I’m totally LMAO that Hillary couldn’t even beat Edwards. B. Hussein Obama would be much harder to beat in a General Election than, well, anyone else that the Democrats can come up with.

Don’t worry… I got dropped from the “daily sweep” a long time ago. Oh well…
