I’m in the process of building a new computer. I’d say from scratch, but that discounts the work that others’ put into it, so I’ll just say I’m putting together lots of different parts. I’m the personality type that likes to have an overload of reference material. Problem is, I tend not to go back and read much of what I’ve already bookmarked as said references.
I made an ill-advised trip to MicroCenter today. I had a couple of hours to kill over the weekend (a rarity for me). Kill it, I did. I was certainly outgeeked outclassed at what appeared to be a big sale. Good thing, too. The checkout line was ridiculous and the other geeks were much more intense than me. Luckily, that meant nothing but window shopping for me. Wow. Expensive windows.
So back to my bookmarks. I’d saved this one, and finally got to go over this one in some detail. Great stuff, and almost exactly the system I’m building. Easy peasy puddiny pie. How’s that for step by step directions? Following the links on that page I came across this in the forums, from the same site. Sweet! Say it with me now. Amen.
UPDATE: upon a little further googling, I’ve decided to build one of these. What? Why are you laughing?
